Instead of throwing a tall fountain plume, it produces a low, churning boil of heavily aerated water at the surface - the kind of pattern that favours oxygen transfer and circulation over height. Three motor sizes are available at one-third, one-half and three-quarter horsepower, covering residential ponds up to about three-quarters of an acre.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBecause the discharge stays close to the water, more of the motor's energy goes into moving volume and mixing the pond than into lifting water into the air. The one-third horsepower motor turns over 300 gallons per minute, the one-half 400 and the three-quarter 450, all at 3,450 rpm. The same unit also serves as a de-icer through the cold months, keeping an opening in the surface where it operates.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe motor is a stainless-steel submersible unit running oil-free, assembled in Holland, Michigan. There are no oil changes, no routine maintenance and no shore-mounted control box to wire. It is approved for fresh and salt water and designed for 24-hour-a-day running.
