captain-s-chair
Himiway Captain's Chair

The Captain's Chair is the child-specific half of Himiway's rear-passenger system; the Passenger Bars are the other, open option for older or heavier riders. This one is built around a young passenger: extended side rails protect little hands, a two-point safety harness holds the child in place, and footrests on both sides keep their legs away from the wheel. Himiway puts the suitable age at roughly 5 to 10 years and 100 to 130 cm (3'3" to 4'3") in height, with a payload of 121.3 lb (55 kg), and notes that a very young child should be carried in a certified child seat instead. It is listed for the D5 2.0, D5 2.0 ST, D5 2.0 20", A7, D7, A3, B3, Rambler and the Rhino hub drive, and the bike needs a rear rack already fitted.

The frame is 6061 aluminium with a vacuum-moulded leather cushion 5 cm thick. The seat and handlebars are both on quick-release mechanisms, so they come off in seconds and you can lift the integrated storage box away with them rather than unbolting anything. The metal section is also pre-drilled for a MIK adapter plate, which means the chair can be fitted to MIK-compatible racks if you source the adapter separately. Complete, the set weighs 9.3 lb (4.2 kg) and measures 16.5 by 16.1 by 16.5 inches.

The mounting position can be shifted to suit the child's height — product photography generally shows the most extreme setting, not the one you will necessarily use. On safety: a child passenger should always wear a correctly fitted helmet and should be supervised at all times, including while climbing on and off. Confirm the harness is fastened and every screw is fully tightened before each ride, and re-check the hardware periodically, since a rack-mounted seat carrying a moving load loosens faster than static fittings.

What's Included

Seat frame in 6061 aluminium

Padded cushion, 5 cm thick vacuum-moulded leather

Footrests for both sides

Two-point safety harness

Full set of mounting accessories for installation
