It is engineered specifically for underwater work, which is the difference between it and an ordinary landscape rake pressed into service at the water's edge: the head and tines are meant to be dragged through saturated bottom material rather than across dry ground.

The head measures 37 inches across and carries 8-inch tines. Pulled toward you, the tines bite into the bottom and lift weed and organic debris out of it while the oversized head gathers the material and holds it on the way back in. A head that size collects a large volume of vegetation on each pass, so clearing a swim area or a stretch of waterfront takes fewer trips than a narrow rake would.

The head is hollow, which gives it a useful adjustment: load it with rocks and the extra weight drives the tines deeper, which is what you want in heavy muck or in growth that is firmly rooted. Left unweighted, it works more lightly over softer material.

An 11-foot handle covers close-in work from a dock or bank, and 43 feet of floating rope extends the range well past that. Because the rope floats, it stays visible on the surface while the head is working below, and it is what you use to draw the raker back in once it is loaded.

Adding Weight for Heavier Bottoms

The rake head is hollow and can be loaded with rocks before a pass

Added weight pushes the 8-inch tines deeper for more digging power

Useful in thick muck or on vegetation that is well rooted

Leave the head unweighted for lighter work over soft bottom material
