The AKEZ D9 is the brand's flagship fat-tire performance model, and the thing that sets it apart from the rest of the 1500W class is current output. Where comparable bikes run 28A to 40A controllers, the D9 uses a 42A unit against an MXUS 52V 1500W hub motor rated to 2000W peak. The practical result is sharper throttle response and more torque held through the middle of the speed range. AKEZ rates it at 55 km/h (about 34 mph), above the limit for any pedal-assist electric bicycle class in the United States, so it is sold as a recreational off-road machine.

Suspension is the other reason the D9 sits at the top of the lineup. It combines a full aluminum hydraulic inverted front fork with an adjustable DNM air shock at the rear, a setup normally reserved for bikes built specifically for trail work. Riders can tune rear preload to match load and terrain instead of accepting whatever a basic coil spring provides. Underneath, 20 x 4.5-inch INNOVA snow and all-terrain tires mount to double-layer snow-pattern hollow rims, which is the combination that lets the bike float over sand, soft snow and loose gravel.

The 52V 25Ah lithium pack is one of the largest batteries fitted to a bike in this category, built from EVE 21700 cells and taking roughly eight hours for a full charge. The higher 52V bus means less current draw for the same output, which runs cooler and is easier on the electronics than a 48V system doing the same job. AKEZ quotes 40-50 km (25-31 miles) per charge, which reflects real off-road riding rather than a best-case figure.

The rest of the build is finished to match. A 20-inch aluminum alloy soft-tail frame carries a three-layer baked paint finish, SIMAERS hydraulic disc brakes handle stopping at both wheels, and a Shimano 7-speed freewheel on a 42T crankset gives a usable pedal gear range. The cockpit runs a waterproof DMHC LCD display, and the bike comes with full LED lighting including headlight, brake light, running lights and turn signals, plus a horn and an extended comfort saddle.

What motor and controller does the d9 use?
An mxus 52v 1500w rear hub motor rated to 2000w peak, driven by a 42a controller. the 42a unit is the highest-output controller akez fits, and it is the main difference between the d9 and the rest of the 1500w models.
How fast does it go?
Akez rates the d9 at 55 km/h, about 34 mph. that is above the 28 mph ceiling for every us e-bike class, so it is intended for off-road and private-land riding.
Why 52v instead of 48v?
A 52v bus draws less current to make the same power, so it runs cooler and puts less strain on the controller and wiring. it also gives a little more headroom at the top of the speed range and on sustained climbs.
How far will it go on a charge?
Akez quotes 40-50 km, or 25-31 miles. rider weight, terrain, assist level and how much throttle you use all move that figure significantly.
How long does the battery take to charge?
About eight hours for a full charge from empty. the pack is removable, so it can be charged off the bike.
What does the dnm air shock actually do?
It lets you adjust rear suspension preload rather than living with a fixed coil spring. firmer settings hold the bike up under load and at speed; softer settings soak up trail chatter.
