The Mud Monster XL is the two-seat version of MotoTec's off-road kart, built around a 212cc four-stroke OHV engine producing 4.0 kW at 3,600 rpm and 12 Nm at 2,500 rpm. A CVT torque converter working with a centrifugal clutch and chain drive keeps the power smooth off the line, and a pull-start system gets the engine running without needing a battery.

Suspension is independent hydraulic at the front with twin hydraulic shocks at the rear, all bolted to a tubular steel frame. Low-pressure pneumatic tires, 145/70-6 at the front and a much wider 16x8-7 at the rear, add a second layer of cushioning while improving grip on soft ground. A foot-operated hydraulic disc at the rear brings the 242 lb kart to a stop.

Two people sit side by side, each held by a four-point harness inside a padded roll cage. The seat adjusts, the pedals are metal rather than plastic, and a kill switch sits within reach. MotoTec rates the XL for drivers 13 and older, up to 400 lbs of rider weight and around 67 inches of height. A rear storage rack carries gear, and the 3.6-liter tank keeps the four-stroke fed through longer sessions.

Ride Safe

Normal wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, chains and batteries are not covered, and neither is damage from racing, jumping, collisions, improper assembly, modification, or riding beyond the rated limits.
