Product Description

The Sandman is MotoTec's entry-level gas kart, sized for driveways, empty lots and packed dirt trails. A 52cc air-cooled two-stroke, EPA approved, drives the rear axle through a centrifugal clutch and chain, so there is no shifting involved. It fires on a pull cord and runs on unleaded gasoline pre-mixed with two-stroke oil at 32:1.

Despite a compact 53 x 26 x 19 inch footprint, the Sandman carries real hardware: rear suspension to take the edge off uneven ground, a rear disc brake and 9.5-inch pneumatic tires at all four corners. Steering is direct, the turning circle is tight enough to weave a cone course, and throttle is lever-operated rather than a floor pedal.

MotoTec rates it for drivers 13 and up with a 185 lb weight limit, and the padded single seat has a belt. The 1.25-liter tank is good for roughly 10 to 20 miles of mixed riding, and top speed is listed at 32 mph, quick enough that a helmet and protective gear should be treated as mandatory rather than optional. The kart needs assembly before its first outing.
