The Himiway D5 2.0 20" is the small-wheel member of the D5 2.0 full-suspension family, built around 20 x 4.0 fat tires and a compact frame instead of the 26-inch wheels used on the rest of the range. The smaller wheels pull the standover height and the centre of gravity down, which makes the bike noticeably easier to mount, easier to balance at walking pace and easier to park. Himiway aims it at shorter riders, older riders, RV and campground travellers, and households where one bike has to fit two people of different sizes.

Suspension is front and rear: a Himiway hydraulic fork with 90mm of travel and a lockout, paired with 100mm of rear-wheel travel built into the aluminum frame. That combination takes the jolt out of cracked sidewalks, gravel paths, driveway lips and railway crossings rather than passing it through the saddle. A memory-foam ergonomic seat, 660mm bars and a stem adjustable through 60 degrees let you set an upright, low-strain riding position.

The 48V 750W geared hub motor produces 90Nm of torque, enough to start from rest on a hill with a load on board. Himiway fits a sensor you can switch between torque mode, where assistance tracks your pedal pressure, and cadence mode, where it holds a steady level as long as you are turning the cranks - plus an automatic assist mode and five manual PAS levels. A thumb throttle is fitted. The bike ships set to a 20 mph limit and can be configured between 4 and 28 mph, covering Class 1, 2 and 3 operation. Himiway publishes about 40 miles on throttle alone and up to 70 miles on pedal assist from the 15Ah battery; a second pack is offered, with the 15Ah + 20Ah configuration giving 35Ah in total and a correspondingly longer day out.

Hardware is specified for load rather than lightness: Tektro hydraulic disc brakes on a 203mm front and 180mm rear rotor, Kenda x Himiway K-Shield puncture-resistant tires with reflective sidewalls, a MIK HD-compatible rear rack good for 120 lb, full-coverage fenders and an IPX5 water rating for the bike with IPX6 on the battery. Total load capacity is 440 lb and the bike fits riders from 4'11" to 6'3".

How far will it go on a charge?
Himiway publishes roughly 40 miles on throttle alone and up to 70 miles on pedal assist from the standard 15ah battery. choosing the 15ah + 20ah dual-battery setup more than doubles the stored energy, so expect a proportionally longer ride.
What is the top speed and what class is this bike?
It leaves the factory limited to 20 mph and can be set anywhere from 4 to 28 mph in the display, covering class 1, 2 and 3 operation. a thumb throttle is fitted. pick the setting that matches the rules where you ride.
What rider sizes does it suit?
Himiway lists a 4'11" to 6'3" fit range for the 20-inch model, which is why it is the usual pick for shorter riders. total load capacity, rider plus cargo, is 440 lb.
What is the difference between torque and cadence mode?
Torque mode reads how hard you are pressing the pedals and scales the motor to match, which feels like a natural extension of your own effort. cadence mode holds the chosen assist level whenever the cranks are turning, which is less work on a long flat ride. you switch between them from the display.
Is it suitable for someone who has not ridden in years?
That is much of the point. the low standover, 20-inch wheels, upright position, adjustable stem and walk mode all lower the barrier. start in a low pas level in an open space until starting, stopping and the throttle feel familiar.
Is the bike weatherproof?
The bike carries an ipx5 rating and the battery an ipx6 rating, so rain and spray are fine. do not submerge it or pressure-wash it, and dry the contacts before charging.
