The Baystone Fountain for medium residential ponds is the 1 hp version of the Baystone display, built for ponds that have outgrown a small backyard unit but are not yet commercial scale. The nozzle produces a tall center peak with a broad traditional spray falling around it, filling a footprint of up to 14 feet high by 30 feet wide. A single motor size covers this model, offered in either 115 volts or 230 volts.

The 1 hp motor is a stainless-steel oil-free submersible rated at 0.75 kW, running single-phase 60 Hz at 3,450 rpm. It draws 11.5 amps on 115 volts or 8.2 amps on 230 volts and pushes 75 gallons per minute through the Baystone brass nozzle. Because the motor needs no oil and no separate control box, there is nothing to service on shore and nothing to open up seasonally. Three-phase and 50 Hz versions can be ordered for sites that require them.

Installation calls for at least 44 inches of water where the fountain will sit, plus two 35-pound weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes to hold position, none of which ship with the unit. The standard power cord is 100 feet of submersible cable, 10 gauge on the 115-volt motor with a plug attached and 12 gauge on the 230-volt motor, and longer runs can be specified. On a 115-volt motor the main breaker has to sit within 100 feet of the fountain, so longer distances should be handled with the 230-volt build.

The fountain is rated for continuous 24-hour operation in fresh or salt water and carries no required maintenance routine. For winter, cut power and leave the unit where it is rather than pulling and storing it, then switch it back on in spring. Cord length and an optional LED light set, in color-changing or Night Glo trim and in two-light or four-light sets, are selected at purchase, and a light set can also be retrofitted later. The fountain is built in Holland, Michigan, requires a GFCI circuit, and should have its power disconnected any time swimmers are in the pond.
