The Cambridge Fountain for medium residential ponds is the 1 hp build of the Cambridge display, intended for ponds large enough to carry a tall, layered spray. The Cambridge brass nozzle stacks the water into a multi-tiered classic pattern that reaches up to 30 feet high and 40 feet wide, which is the largest footprint in the residential Cambridge range. One motor size covers this model, in either 115 volts or 230 volts.

The 1 hp motor is a stainless-steel oil-free submersible rated at 0.75 kW, single-phase 60 Hz, turning at 3,450 rpm and moving 75 gallons per minute. It draws 11.5 amps on 115 volts or 8.2 amps on 230 volts. No oil has to be changed and no control box has to be mounted and wired on shore, so once the fountain is floated and anchored the remaining work is the GFCI-protected supply circuit. Three-phase and 50 Hz versions are available for sites that need them.

Siting the fountain takes at least 44 inches of water at the float position, two 35-pound weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes, with the anchoring hardware supplied separately. The standard power cord is 100 feet of submersible cable, 10 gauge with a plug on the 115-volt motor and 12 gauge on the 230-volt motor, and 150, 200 and 250 foot lengths are also offered. A 115-volt motor has to be within 100 feet of the main breaker, so longer runs call for the 230-volt build.

The unit is rated for continuous 24-hour operation and is approved for fresh and salt water. Winter handling is straightforward: shut the power off, leave the fountain in the pond, and restore power once the ice thaws. An LED light set can be added at purchase or later, in color-changing or Night Glo versions and in two-light or four-light sets. The fountain is built in Holland, Michigan, and power should be disconnected whenever swimmers are in the water.
