The Cambridge Fountain for small residential ponds is a floating display fountain whose nozzle builds a multi-tiered classic spray, stacking several layers of water rather than throwing a single sheet. It is offered in two motor sizes for this pond class, 1/2 hp and 3/4 hp, each available in 115 volts or 230 volts. The two sizes do not share a spray footprint or depth requirement, so the motor choice decides both how tall the display stands and how much water has to sit under it.

Both motors are stainless-steel oil-free submersibles rated at 0.55 kW, running single-phase 60 Hz at 3,450 rpm, and three-phase and 50 Hz versions can be ordered. There is no oil to change and no control box to mount on shore, so the install reduces to floating the fountain, anchoring it and bringing a GFCI-protected circuit out to the water. A Cambridge brass nozzle ships with the unit.

The 1/2 hp motor draws 10 amps at 115 volts or 5 amps at 230 volts, moves 50 gallons per minute and produces spray dimensions of up to 20 feet high by 30 feet wide, with a 36-inch minimum pond depth. The 3/4 hp motor draws 10.7 amps at 115 volts or 6.8 amps at 230 volts, moves 65 gallons per minute and reaches up to 25 feet high by 35 feet wide, with a 44-inch minimum depth. Anchoring takes two weights or concrete blocks plus two nylon ropes, 25 pounds each on the 1/2 hp and 20 pounds each on the 3/4 hp, supplied separately.

The fountain is rated for continuous 24-hour operation and approved for fresh and salt water, and it needs no seasonal teardown. In winter the power simply comes off and the unit stays in the pond until spring. Cord length and an optional LED light set are selected at purchase, with color-changing and Night Glo options in two-light and four-light sets, and lights can also be added to a fountain already in service.

How much water depth does each motor size need?
The 1/2 hp motor needs a minimum pond depth of 36 inches and the 3/4 hp motor needs a minimum of 44 inches.
What is the difference in display size between the two motors?
The 1/2 hp motor produces spray dimensions of 20 feet high by 30 feet wide at 50 gpm, while the 3/4 hp motor reaches 25 feet high by 35 feet wide at 65 gpm.
Is a control box needed on shore?
No. the oil-free submersible motor runs without a control box. a gfci-protected circuit is required, and power should be disconnected while swimmers are in the pond.
When should i choose the 230 v motor instead of 115 v?
If the main breaker is more than 100 feet from the fountain, order the 230 v motor. within 100 feet, either voltage works.
What anchoring hardware do i have to buy separately?
Two weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes. the 1/2 hp motor calls for 25 lb weights and the 3/4 hp motor calls for 20 lb weights.
How is the fountain handled over winter?
Shut off the power and leave the fountain in the pond. no draining, storing or winterizing procedure is required, and power goes back on in spring.
