The Scott Aerator Floating De-Icer keeps winter ice from closing in around docks, boats, marinas, boathouses, fish ponds and other waterfront structures. It works by circulating the warmer water held below the surface upward, so the surface stays open instead of sealing over and locking pilings, hulls and lifts into the ice.

Unlike a bracket-mounted de-icer, this version floats and suspends the motor roughly two feet under the surface. That matters on water that changes level: as the surface rises or drops, the float carries the motor with it and the working depth stays the same, with no need to re-set a mount partway through the season. The discharge keeps a worked area open around whatever the float is anchored near.

The motor is an oil-free, stainless-steel, fully submersible unit turning at 3,450 rpm, with no seasonal oil changes and no routine maintenance. Four sizes are offered, each in 115 or 230 volts: the 1/3 hp moves 300 gallons per minute with flow carrying 40 feet, the 1/2 hp moves 400 gallons per minute for 50 feet, the 3/4 hp moves 450 gallons per minute for 60 feet and the 1 hp moves 500 gallons per minute for 75 feet. Three-phase and 50 Hz builds are available. The 115-volt motors are only appropriate when the run from the main breaker is 100 feet or less; past that, order the 230-volt version.

The float and housing are high-density polyurethane and stainless steel, and the unit works in fresh or salt water. A 35-foot submersible cord is standard, with 50-foot and 100-foot options for floats anchored further out. An in-line de-icer thermostat can be added so the unit cycles with the temperature rather than running flat out all season. Whichever configuration you choose, the circuit has to be GFCI protected, and power should be cut whenever anyone is in the water.

Scott Aerator covers this unit with a five-year warranty against motor failure and a one-year warranty against factory defects on all other components, extended to the original owner from the date of purchase.

Warranty service is handled at the factory. A unit needing inspection must be sent in with shipping prepaid by the owner; once the fault is confirmed, replaced parts are returned with shipping prepaid. Contact Adventure Motion support with your order number before sending anything in and we will start the claim.

Damage from improper wiring, running the unit without a GFCI, operating it outside its rated voltage, freezing in a dry unit, or physical impact is not covered.

How deep does the motor sit?
The float suspends the motor roughly two feet below the surface, and because the unit floats it keeps that depth as the water level rises or drops.
Should i order 115 volts or 230 volts?
Order 115 volts only when the distance from the main breaker to the unit is 100 feet or less. for longer runs, the 230-volt motor is the correct choice.
Do i need a control box?
No control box is required. the unit does have to be on a gfci-protected circuit, and power should be disconnected any time someone is in the water.
What does the thermostat option do?
The in-line de-icer thermostat lets the unit cycle with water temperature instead of running continuously all winter. it is an optional add-on rather than standard equipment.
Is there any winter maintenance or oil to change?
No. the submersible motor is oil-free, so there is nothing to drain or refill and no seasonal servicing to schedule.
Can it be used in salt water?
Yes. the de-icer is suitable for fresh and salt water, and the float and housing are high-density polyurethane and stainless steel.
