The Scott Aerator Jet Stream Fountain for small residential ponds is a ½ hp surface fountain built around a single narrow vertical jet. Instead of spreading water outward in a cone, it concentrates the entire flow into one tight column that climbs 20 feet above the surface, which makes it a good match for a compact backyard pond or a small lake where a single tall accent reads better than a wide pattern.

Power comes from a stainless-steel submersible motor that runs oil-free, so there is no oil to change and no separate control box to mount on shore. The motor turns at 3,450 rpm on single-phase 60 Hz service and moves 60 gallons per minute through the jet. It is built for continuous round-the-clock duty, and the unit is rated for both fresh water and salt water. Three-phase and 50 Hz builds are offered for installations that need them.

Beyond the visual effect, the jet does real work on water quality. Pushing water upward and returning it to the surface raises oxygen levels and keeps the pond moving, which helps organic debris and decaying plant matter break down instead of settling. The constant surface disturbance also makes the pond a poorer place for mosquitoes to lay eggs. Scott Aerator builds its fountains and aerators in Holland, Michigan.

The fountain is ordered as either a 115-volt or a 230-volt motor. A 115-volt motor should sit within 100 feet of the main breaker; past that distance the 230-volt version is the better choice. Both ship with a 70-foot submersible 12-gauge cord, and longer cords can be specified at the time of order. Optional LED light sets, in color-changing or Night Glo styles and in two- or four-light configurations, can be added with the fountain or fitted later. A GFCI is required on the circuit, and power should be cut whenever anyone is swimming.

How deep does the pond need to be?
A minimum water depth of 36 inches is required for this model.
Is a control box or separate panel needed?
No. the oil-free submersible motor runs without a control box, though the circuit it is connected to must be gfci protected.
Should the 115-volt or the 230-volt motor be chosen?
If the fountain will sit within 100 feet of the main breaker, the 115-volt motor is fine. for longer runs, the 230-volt motor is recommended.

Two 25-pound weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes, none of which are included with the fountain.
Can led lights be added after the fountain is already installed?
