The Scott Aerator Slinger De-Icer is a suspended water circulator for keeping ice from forming around docks, pilings, moored boats and other marine structures. Rather than bolting to a bracket or riding on a float, it hangs on ropes from whatever it is protecting, so the discharge can be positioned and angled to suit the spot that freezes first.

Operation is simple: the propeller pulls the warmer water sitting below the surface and drives it upward, which breaks up the thermal layering that lets ice sheet over. Keeping that water moving is what holds an open pocket around hulls, lifts and pilings through the coldest part of the season.

Four motor sizes are available, each in 115 or 230 volts. The 1/3 hp moves 300 gallons per minute with flow carrying 40 feet, the 1/2 hp moves 400 gallons per minute for 50 feet, the 3/4 hp moves 450 gallons per minute for 60 feet, and the 1 hp moves 500 gallons per minute for 75 feet. All of them are oil-free stainless-steel submersible motors running at 3,450 rpm on single-phase 60 Hz power, with three-phase and 50 Hz versions offered as well. No control box is needed and there is no oil to change. The 115-volt motors are only appropriate when the distance from the main breaker to the unit is 100 feet or less; beyond that, the 230-volt motor is the right pick.

The unit is built from high-density polyurethane and stainless steel and is approved for salt water as well as fresh. Nylon suspension ropes are included along with a 25-foot submersible cord fitted with a marine-style plug, and 50-foot and 100-foot cords are available for installations further from shore power. The circuit must be GFCI protected, and power should be disconnected whenever swimmers are present.

Scott Aerator covers this unit with a five-year warranty against motor failure and a one-year warranty against factory defects on all other components, extended to the original owner from the date of purchase.

Warranty service is handled at the factory. A unit needing inspection must be sent in with shipping prepaid by the owner; once the fault is confirmed, replaced parts are returned with shipping prepaid. Contact Adventure Motion support with your order number before sending anything in and we will start the claim.

Damage from improper wiring, running the unit without a GFCI, operating it outside its rated voltage, freezing in a dry unit, or physical impact is not covered.

How is the slinger de-icer held in position?
It is suspended on the nylon ropes supplied with the unit, tied off to a dock, piling or boat. that lets you set both the depth and the angle of the discharge rather than being fixed by a bracket.
Should i order 115 volts or 230 volts?
Pick 115 volts only if the run from the main breaker to the unit is 100 feet or less. for anything longer, order the 230-volt motor.
How far does each motor size throw water?
Flow distance is 40 feet on the 1/3 hp, 50 feet on the 1/2 hp, 60 feet on the 3/4 hp and 75 feet on the 1 hp, at 300, 400, 450 and 500 gallons per minute respectively.
Do i need a control box or special wiring?
No control box is required. the unit does need a gfci-protected circuit, and power should be disconnected whenever swimmers are in the water.
What maintenance does it need between seasons?
None. the motor is oil-free and fully submersible, so there is nothing to drain, refill or service.
Can it be used in salt water?
Yes. the unit is approved for salt water as well as fresh, with high-density polyurethane and stainless-steel construction.
