The Scott Aerator Solar Boilermaker is a surface aerator for ponds with no dependable electricity, powered entirely by solar panels and running during daylight hours without any batteries to maintain or replace. It drives a large volume of water straight up through the surface, which is where the name comes from — the result looks like a rolling boil rather than a decorative fountain spray. The intent is oxygen transfer and water movement: raising dissolved oxygen, reducing muck accumulation, and pushing surface algae and floating debris away from the area it works.

Power comes from a variable-speed submersible motor built by Franklin Electric in stainless steel, fed through a Fhoton solar inverter and disconnect box. Because the drive is variable speed, the aerator adjusts to the output the panels are producing rather than needing a fixed supply, which is what makes battery-free solar operation workable. The motor is oil-free and stainless, and the unit is approved for salt water as well as fresh, so it suits brackish and coastal ponds along with ordinary freshwater sites.

Two system sizes are offered. The two-panel version pairs two 340-watt, 60-cell panels with a half-horsepower, 48-volt motor turning 3,450 rpm on three-phase 60 Hz power at 0.37 kW, drawing 10.3 amps and moving 200 gallons per minute; it needs a minimum pond depth of 36 inches. The four-panel version uses four of the same 340-watt panels with a three-quarter-horsepower, 100-volt motor at 3,450 rpm and 0.55 kW, drawing 8.3 amps and moving 300 gallons per minute, with a 44-inch minimum depth. Both ship with 70 feet of 12-gauge submersible cord and plug as standard, and longer cords can be ordered to reach a further mooring point.

The Boilermaker is built in Holland, Michigan, and the complete package is ARL-tested and compliant with UL standards and the National Electric Code when it is installed as a package. A GFCI is required, and power should be disconnected any time swimmers are in the water. It also works as a de-icer, and winterizing is simply a matter of switching the power off and leaving the unit in the pond until spring — there is no need to pull it out, drain it or store it.

Scott Aerator covers this unit with a five-year warranty against motor failure and a one-year warranty against factory defects on all other components, extended to the original owner from the date of purchase.

Warranty service is handled at the factory. A unit needing inspection must be sent in with shipping prepaid by the owner; once the fault is confirmed, replaced parts are returned with shipping prepaid. Contact Adventure Motion support with your order number before sending anything in and we will start the claim.

Damage from improper wiring, running the unit without a GFCI, operating it outside its rated voltage, freezing in a dry unit, or physical impact is not covered.

How deep does the pond need to be?
The two-panel system requires a minimum of 36 inches of water and the four-panel system requires 44 inches. the larger unit draws more water through it, so it needs more depth beneath to operate without disturbing the bottom.
Does it need batteries?
No. the boilermaker is designed to run on direct solar power during daylight hours. the variable-speed drive lets the motor follow whatever the panels are producing instead of requiring a steady supply.
What electrical setup is required?
A gfci is required. the complete package is arl tested and meets ul standards and the national electric code when installed as supplied. power should be disconnected whenever swimmers are in the water.
What anchoring do i need to supply?
Two anchor ropes with weights or tethers, plus two 30-pound weights or concrete blocks, none of which are included. you will also need the vertical pole for the solar panels and frame and a concrete footing to set it in.
Can i leave it in over winter?
Yes. there is no winterizing procedure. shut off the power and leave the unit in the pond, then restore power in spring. it also serves as a de-icer if you want to keep it running through the cold months.
Can it be used in salt water?
Yes. the motor is stainless steel and oil-free, and the unit is approved for both fresh and salt water.
