The Jackery Manual Transfer Switch is the hardwired piece that turns a portable Jackery power station into real household backup. Instead of running extension cords through a doorway to a handful of appliances during an outage, the switch is wired into your electrical panel and lets you move selected circuits over to the power station by hand. It is a 120V, 30A unit with six circuits, and Jackery lists it for the Explorer 2000 Plus and the HomePower 3600 Plus.

On the electrical side, Jackery rates the switch at 30A at 125 VAC on 60 Hz, with a maximum of 3750W across six circuits, each with its own circuit protection. Color-coded wattmeters on the front let you see how much load each side is carrying, which matters when you are deciding whether to leave a well pump or a space heater on while the furnace cycles. The power station connects through a NEMA L5-30 power inlet. Because the switch physically separates your circuits from the utility feed before energizing them, it eliminates the back-feeding hazard that comes with improvised generator hookups.

The unit arrives completely pre-wired in a metal cabinet designed for indoor use, measuring 7.75 x 11.25 x 4.75 inches and shipping at about 10.92 lbs for the switch alone. It comes in gray with a cover included to protect the toggle switches and circuit breakers behind it. Transfer is manual: you throw the toggles yourself when the power goes out and throw them back when utility power returns, so there is no automatic changeover and nothing to program.

Installation is not a DIY job. Jackery states that only a qualified electrician should perform the Manual Transfer Switch installation process, in compliance with all applicable electrical codes. Plan on hiring a licensed electrician before you order, and have them confirm what your local code requires for a panel-level installation at your address. Jackery does not publish a permit or inspection requirement for this switch, but local jurisdictions commonly have their own rules for panel work, which is one more reason the electrician should be involved from the start.

Installation Requirements

  • Jackery states that only a qualified electrician should perform the Manual Transfer Switch installation process, in compliance with all applicable electrical codes
  • The switch is hardwired into your electrical panel; it is not a plug-in device
  • Jackery designates the metal cabinet for indoor use
  • The unit arrives completely pre-wired, which shortens the electrician's work but does not remove the need for one
  • Jackery does not publish a permit or inspection requirement for this switch; confirm local requirements with your electrician

Do i need a licensed electrician to install this?
Yes. jackery states that only a qualified electrician should perform the manual transfer switch installation process, in compliance with all applicable electrical codes. this is a hardwired panel-level device and is not intended for owner installation.
Is a permit or inspection required?
Jackery does not publish a permit or inspection requirement for this switch. panel work is commonly regulated at the local level, however, so have your electrician confirm what your jurisdiction requires before the work is done.
Which jackery power stations work with it?
Jackery lists this 120v 30a version for the explorer 2000 plus and the homepower 3600 plus. jackery offers different switches for larger setups, including a 240v 50a manual transfer switch and a smart transfer switch for the 5000 plus series, so check which one matches your unit before ordering.
How many circuits can it back up, and how much power?
Six circuits, each with its own circuit protection, up to a maximum of 3750w at 30a and 125 vac on 60 hz.
Can it be mounted outdoors?
No. jackery designates the metal cabinet for indoor use. it should be installed inside, such as next to your electrical panel in a garage, basement, or utility room.
Does it switch over to backup power automatically?
No. this is a manual transfer switch, operated by toggle switches on the front panel. you move the circuits over to the power station yourself when utility power drops, and switch them back when it returns.
