The Renogy 5 Strings Solar Combiner Box gathers the output of as many as five separate solar panel strings and feeds them into one consolidated line, which keeps wiring tidy on larger arrays for homes, cabins, and other grid-tied or off-grid installations. Each incoming string can be given its own breaker, so a fault on one string can be isolated without affecting the rest of the array.

Inside, a standard DIN rail makes it straightforward to fit five single-pole miniature circuit breakers along with a two-pole surge protection device, adding overload, short-circuit, and lightning protection to the system. The cold-formed steel enclosure is rated IP55, and its sloped rain cap and rubber door seals help keep water out when it is mounted outdoors. Pre-punched knockouts leave room for waterproof strain reliefs or conduit, and a keyed cam lock keeps the panel secure.

How many solar strings can this combiner box handle?
Up to five solar panel strings can be combined into one output, and each input can be protected with its own breaker.
Can i connect panels of different wattages to this box?
No. renogy advises connecting only panels with matching voltage and wattage to the same combiner box.
Where is this combiner box typically used?
It is mainly used in home solar systems to merge up to five panel inputs into one output, and it can be installed indoors or outdoors.
Do i need to install a surge protective device?
Renogy recommends it, since a surge protective device helps prevent equipment damage from lightning.
If the combiner box is grounded to a grounding rod, do the panels need separate grounding?
If the panels are bonded to the same grounding rod, a second ground is generally not needed. proper grounding of the combiner box itself is especially important for storm protection.
What is the warranty?
Renogy provides a 1-year material and workmanship warranty.
