Product Description

The MotoTec HP112E is an entry-level electric dirt bike aimed at teen riders who have outgrown a pedal bike and want a throttle. A 1000 watt brushed DC motor turns the rear wheel through a chain, so acceleration is immediate and quiet, and there is no fuel, oil or starter cord involved. MotoTec recommends it for riders 13 and older, up to 150 lbs.

Speed is set with a variable knob rather than fixed presets, which lets a parent dial the bike anywhere from a walking-pace 6 mph up to 18 mph and raise it gradually as the rider improves. A half twist throttle keeps the grip from being rolled wide open by accident. Suspension is real too: two hydraulic shocks up front and a hydraulic spring shock at the rear keep the wheels tracking over ruts and roots instead of bouncing the rider off the seat.

The 36 volt 7.8 amp-hour lithium pack is UL 2489 certified and gives roughly 45 minutes of ride time, recharging in 5 to 6 hours from empty. A steel frame carries disc brakes at both ends, and a 16 inch front wheel paired with a 10 inch rear gives the bike the geometry of a small motocross machine rather than a scooter. At 51 lbs with a 24.5 inch seat height and 10 inches of ground clearance, it is light enough for a rider to pick up unaided after a spill.
