MotoTec Demon 40cc 4-Stroke Kids Gas Dirt Bike - Recreational Off-Road Use Only

The MotoTec Demon is a 40cc four-stroke mini dirt bike built as a first real gas machine for a young rider moving up from electric toys. Its air-cooled single makes 1.9 hp at 6,500 rpm and drives the rear wheel through an automatic centrifugal clutch, so there is no shifting and no clutch lever to learn. A pull cord fires it up, and the twist grip is the only control the rider has to think about while getting comfortable with balance and throttle.

Where the Demon earns its keep is in the chassis. The steel frame carries an inverted front fork with 70 mm of travel and a rear mono shock with 60 mm, which takes the sting out of ruts and small jumps instead of sending it straight into the rider. Disc brakes sit at both ends, alloy wheels are wrapped in 2.50-10 knobby rubber, and the 35-inch wheelbase keeps the bike stable without making it a handful to turn. Ground clearance of 5.3 inches is enough for grass, dirt tracks and light trail.

Parents get a throttle limiter that caps how much of the 22 mph top speed is actually available, so the bike can be dialed back for a nervous beginner and opened up as skills improve. The 1.2-liter tank is good for 20-plus miles of riding between fills, the seat sits 23 inches off the ground, and the frame is rated to carry a rider up to 165 lbs, which means it stays usable for several seasons rather than being outgrown in a summer.
