The Villain 52cc is built for the beginner who is still learning where the throttle stops. Its 52cc air-cooled two-stroke is capped at a 20 mph top speed - the slowest in MotoTec's gas dirt bike range - while still carrying a rider up to 165 lbs, which is one of the higher weight ratings in the lineup. That combination is unusual and useful: a larger or older beginner can learn on it without the bike being quick enough to get away from them.

It rides on a steel frame with a telescopic front fork and a rear mono shock, with disc brakes at both ends and 12.5 x 2.75 tires. Ground clearance is 8 inches, which is plenty for grass, packed dirt and light trail. The seat sits 22 inches off the ground and the whole bike weighs 42 lbs dry, so a smaller rider can get both feet down and pick it up unaided after a tip-over.

The engine is a pull start with an automatic centrifugal clutch, so there is nothing to shift. It runs a 25:1 unleaded premix out of a 1-liter tank, good for 10-plus miles of riding. MotoTec specifies upgraded wheel bearings, longer-wearing high-grip tires and better suspension components than a generic mini bike, which keeps maintenance manageable for a family that is not planning to do much wrenching.

Normal wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, chains and batteries are not covered, and neither is damage from racing, jumping, collisions, improper assembly, modification, or riding beyond the rated limits.

Why is the villain slower than other 52cc bikes?
Mototec geared it for a 20 mph top speed deliberately. it is the most conservative bike in their gas range, which makes it a good fit for a beginner who still needs a margin for error.
What rider size does it fit?
Recommended age is 13 and up with a maximum rider weight of 165 lbs. the 22-inch seat height suits smaller riders while the weight rating accommodates larger ones.
How is the fuel mixed?
It is a two-stroke, so unleaded gasoline must be premixed with two-stroke oil at 25:1 before going into the 1-liter tank. never run straight gas.
Are there gears to shift?
