The AKEZ S1 Max is the long-range entry in the dual-motor line-up. It drives both wheels through a pair of 48V 750W hub motors rated at 1500W peak, but what sets it apart from other AWD fat bikes is how it stores energy: instead of one pack, it carries 48V 26Ah of DMEGC 21700 cells split across two removable 48V 13Ah batteries. Splitting the capacity keeps each pack light enough to carry comfortably and lets a rider swap or stage batteries rather than waiting out a single long charge.

With both motors driving, the S1 Max puts torque down at the front and rear simultaneously, which is what makes the difference on surfaces where a single-wheel-drive bike simply spins. AKEZ rates it for up to 50 km in pure electric mode and roughly double that in pedal assist, with a top speed of 45 to 50 km/h depending on mode and terrain. A full charge takes 8 to 9 hours. The electrical system is tested to the UL 2849 standard.

The chassis is a 20-inch high-carbon steel frame under triple-layer paint, suspended by a full aluminum hydraulic front fork with a soft-tail rear shock absorber, riding on 20 x 4.0-inch all-terrain fat tires. SIMAERS hydraulic disc brakes work front and rear, which is the right specification for a machine of this weight: gross weight is about 40 kg before the rider climbs aboard.

Electronics are built for exposure. An NFC smart display pairs with a 30A dual-motor controller and waterproof wiring throughout, with an LED headlight, brake light, turn signals and a horn. A Shimano 7-speed drivetrain provides the pedal gearing, so the bike can be ridden under leg power, on throttle, or with the motors assisting the pedals. Each machine is shipped in a reinforced seven-layer carton.

Normal wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, chains and batteries are not covered, and neither is damage from crashes, improper assembly, modification, or riding beyond the rated limits.

Why does the s1 max use two batteries instead of one?
The 48v 26ah capacity is split into two removable 48v 13ah packs. each one is lighter to carry indoors than a single large pack, and a rider can stage or swap packs rather than waiting out one long charge cycle.
Why is a dual motor better than a single motor?
Driving both wheels gives all-wheel-drive traction, more total torque, quicker acceleration and better hill-climbing than a single-motor bike, particularly where one tire is likely to lose grip.
Is the s1 max suitable for off-road terrain?
