The Amherst Fountain for small residential ponds is a floating fountain with a three-tier spray form, sized for backyard and small acreage ponds. Beyond the visual effect, it keeps surface water moving and contributes to oxygen transfer across the pond. Two motor sizes serve this model, 1/2 hp and 3/4 hp, and each carries its own flow rate, spray footprint and minimum depth, so the motor selection sets both the look and the siting requirements.

Both motors are oil-free stainless-steel submersibles running single-phase 60 Hz at 3,450 rpm, the 1/2 hp rated at 0.37 kW and the 3/4 hp at 0.55 kW. Neither one uses oil and neither requires a control box on shore, which keeps installation to floating the unit, anchoring it and running a GFCI-protected circuit to the pond. Three-phase and 50 Hz builds can be ordered when a site needs them, and the fountain is built in Holland, Michigan.

On the 1/2 hp motor the fountain moves 50 gallons per minute with spray dimensions of 8 feet by 15 feet, draws 10 amps at 115 volts or 5 amps at 230 volts, and needs a minimum pond depth of 36 inches with two 25-pound anchor weights. The 3/4 hp motor moves 55 gallons per minute with spray dimensions of 10 feet by 20 feet, draws 10.7 amps at 115 volts or 6.8 amps at 230 volts, and needs a minimum depth of 44 inches with two 20-pound weights. Anchor weights or concrete blocks and the two nylon ropes are supplied separately in both cases.

The standard power cord is 70 feet of submersible cable, 12 gauge on the 1/2 hp and 10 gauge on the 3/4 hp at 115 volts with a plug fitted, and 12 gauge on either motor at 230 volts. Longer cords up to 250 feet can be ordered, and a 115-volt motor must sit within 100 feet of the main breaker. The fountain is rated for continuous 24-hour running in fresh or salt water, is engineered to handle subzero temperatures, and needs no winterizing beyond shutting off power and leaving it in the pond. LED light sets in color-changing or Night Glo trim, two-light or four-light, are optional at purchase or afterward.
