The Great Lakes Fountain for large commercial ponds is the top of the Great Lakes range, offered with either a 2 hp or a 3 hp oil-free submersible motor. Both run on 230 V, and both are sized for the kind of open water found on commercial properties, golf courses and large retention ponds where a smaller display would simply disappear. Five brass nozzle heads ship with the unit and exchange without tools.

The spray scales substantially with the motor. Rosewood is the showpiece head, reaching up to 40 ft high by 50 ft wide on the 2 hp and up to 45 ft by 55 ft on the 3 hp. The Gusher head trades width for height and drives a single column to 45 ft or 50 ft. Tudor produces the widest, lowest footprint at up to 16 ft by 50 ft or 18 ft by 55 ft. Baystone and Millbrook both cover up to 24 ft by 40 ft on the 2 hp and 28 ft by 45 ft on the 3 hp, giving two different textures over the same area.

Flow is 130 gallons per minute on the 2 hp and 170 GPM on the 3 hp. Moving that volume through the air is what carries oxygen into the water, which is the working function behind the display on a pond this size. The stainless-steel motor is sealed oil-free, so there is no oil to change and no control box to install on shore. Scott Aerator builds the units in Holland, Michigan, and approves them for salt water as well as fresh.

Depth and anchoring requirements rise with the motor and should be confirmed before ordering. The 2 hp needs a minimum of 56 inches of water and two 45 lb weights or concrete blocks; the 3 hp needs 60 inches and two 55 lb weights. Both are tied off with two nylon ropes, and the weights and ropes are not part of the shipment. Each unit includes a 100 ft, 10-gauge submersible cord with longer lengths available at order time, and the circuit must be GFCI protected. Winter needs nothing beyond cutting power and leaving the fountain in place until spring.
