The Great Lakes Fountain for small residential ponds is a floating display fountain built around a 3/4 hp oil-free submersible motor. Rather than committing a pond to one fixed water shape, the unit arrives with five brass nozzle heads that thread onto the same pump, so the display can be changed to suit the setting. The five heads are Cambridge, Baystone, Gusher, Tudor and Millbrook, and swapping one for another takes only a few minutes.

Each head throws a different footprint, which is what makes the set useful on a smaller body of water. Cambridge is the tall centerpiece at up to 25 ft high and 35 ft across. Tudor stays low and spreads wide, reaching up to 10 ft high by 35 ft. Gusher drops the width entirely and sends a single vertical column up to 20 ft. Millbrook sits in between at up to 12 ft by 25 ft, and Baystone fills a broad, softer shape up to 10 ft high by 25 ft wide. Behind all five, the pump moves 65 gallons per minute.

Pushing that volume of water through a spray head does more than look good: it carries oxygen into the pond, which is what supports a healthier balance in the water. The motor is stainless steel and sealed oil-free, so there is nothing to top off or drain, and no separate control box has to be mounted on shore. Scott Aerator builds the units in Holland, Michigan, approves them for both fresh and salt water, and designs them to run around the clock.

Installation needs a minimum water depth of 44 inches. The fountain floats and is held in position by two 20 lb weights or concrete blocks tied off with two nylon ropes, neither of which ships with the unit. Power comes through a 100 ft submersible cord, with longer cords available at order time, and the circuit must be protected by a GFCI. Choose the 115 V motor only when the main breaker sits within 100 ft of the fountain; past that distance the 230 V motor is the correct pick. Winter needs no special procedure beyond shutting off power and leaving the fountain where it sits.

Damage from improper wiring, running the unit without a GFCI, operating it outside its rated voltage, freezing in a dry unit, or physical impact is not covered.

How deep does my pond need to be?
The fountain requires at least 44 inches of water depth at the location where it will float.
Do i need a separate control box?
No. the oil-free submersible motor runs without a shoreline control box, so installation is limited to anchoring the unit and connecting it to a gfci-protected circuit.
Should i order the 115 v or the 230 v motor?
Use 115 v only if the run from your main breaker to the fountain is 100 ft or less. if the distance is greater than that, order the 230 v motor instead.
What do i need to anchor it?
Two 20 lb weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes. these are not supplied with the fountain and need to be sourced locally.
What has to be done before winter?
Nothing beyond switching off the power. the fountain can stay in the water through the cold season and be restarted in spring; no draining or winterizing procedure is required.
Can it be used in salt water?
Yes. the unit is approved for both fresh water and salt water.
