The Gusher Fountain for large commercial ponds drives a single thick column of water high above the surface and lets it fall back in a dense cascade. It is offered with a 2 hp or 3 hp oil-free submersible motor, which puts the column at 40 ft and 50 ft respectively. Concentrating the water this way rather than fanning it out is what lets the display hold its form in open, exposed conditions where a wide thin spray would be pulled apart by wind.

The height is the visible part; the aeration is the functional part. Lifting water into the air and dropping it back pulls oxygen into the pond, and that oxygen is what supports the breakdown of natural organic material and helps keep the water clear. On a pond large enough to need a 2 or 3 hp pump, that volume of circulation matters as much as the display itself.

Both motors are stainless-steel submersible units, sealed oil-free, turning at 3,450 rpm on 60 Hz single-phase power, with 3-phase and 50 Hz versions available. The 2 hp moves 130 gallons per minute at 10 amps and 1.5 kW; the 3 hp moves 170 GPM at 13.3 amps and 2.2 kW. Neither has oil to change and neither needs a control box installed on shore. Scott Aerator builds the units in Holland, Michigan, and approves them for both fresh and salt water.

Depth and anchoring scale with the motor, so confirm the site before ordering. The 2 hp requires a minimum of 56 inches of water and two 45 lb weights or concrete blocks; the 3 hp requires 60 inches and two 55 lb weights. Both are tied off with two nylon ropes, and the weights and ropes are not part of the shipment. A 100 ft, 10-gauge submersible cord comes standard with longer lengths available at order time. A GFCI is required, and power should be disconnected whenever swimmers are in the water. A 115 V motor should only be used where the main breaker sits within 100 ft of the fountain. Winter needs nothing beyond shutting off power and leaving the unit in place.

How high does each motor throw the water?
The 2 hp model produces a column of 40 ft and the 3 hp model a column of 50 ft, measured per the published specifications.
What is the minimum pond depth?
56 inches for the 2 hp model and 60 inches for the 3 hp model, measured at the point where the fountain will float.
What anchoring does it need?
Two 45 lb weights or concrete blocks for the 2 hp, or two 55 lb weights for the 3 hp, plus two nylon ropes. none of these are included with the fountain.
What are the electrical requirements?
A gfci-protected circuit is required. the 2 hp draws 10 amps and the 3 hp draws 13.3 amps at 230 v, and power should be disconnected any time swimmers are in the pond.
Is there any seasonal maintenance?
No. the motor is oil-free with nothing to change, and for winter the unit stays in the water with the power switched off until spring.
Can it be used in salt water?
