The Heybike ALPHA is the only mid-drive bike in this group, and that single design decision changes how it rides. Instead of a motor bolted into the rear wheel, the Mivice X700 500W unit sits at the bottom bracket and drives the chain directly, feeding power through the bike's own 8-speed Shimano Altus gearing. The result is 105 N·m of torque, the highest figure in Heybike's range, applied where the rider can gear it to suit the gradient. It also puts the heaviest component low and central, which is why the ALPHA turns in more willingly and feels more planted through corners than a comparable hub-drive machine.

Assistance is controlled by an integrated torque and cadence sensor working together, reading both how hard and how fast the rider is pedalling. Heybike's Galaxy Perform S eDrive manages the system and is rated to extract roughly 8 percent more range from a given battery capacity than comparable systems. With a 680Wh removable lithium-ion pack, the ALPHA is rated for up to 60 miles and an assisted top speed of 28 mph. A half-twist throttle is fitted, but it is deliberately held back until the bike is already moving: the Natural Pedal Start mode requires the rider to pedal away gently before the throttle becomes active, which protects the derailleur and motor from the shock load of a standing start.

The chassis is built for mixed surfaces on a 6061 aluminium alloy frame with a hydraulic front suspension fork and 26 x 4-inch puncture-protected fat tires. The larger 26-inch wheel diameter, compared with the 20-inch wheels used across the folding models, rolls over obstacles more easily and holds speed better on open road, making the ALPHA the more natural choice for longer runs and rougher ground. Hydraulic disc brakes handle stopping, and the bike weighs 71.6 lbs with a 400 lb combined rider-and-cargo limit.

Two frame styles are offered, a step-over and a step-through, so riders can choose between the stiffer classic triangle and an easier mount. Standard equipment includes a rear rack, front and rear fenders, an LED headlight with an auto-on function and an integrated taillight with a brake light. The complete bike meets UL 2849 and the battery meets UL 2271.

Is the alpha ul certified?
Yes. the complete bike meets ul 2849 safety standards and the battery meets ul 2271, covering safe charging and safe operation of the pack and electronics.
How should i use the throttle, and what is natural pedal start mode?
The alpha has a throttle, but it is intentionally disabled from a standstill. pedal away gently first in a lower gear, then engage the throttle. this prevents the shock load of a standing start from damaging the rear derailleur and motor, and avoids accidental take-offs. ease off the pedals and release the throttle before shifting gear, and never shift while pedalling hard or with the throttle engaged.
What is the difference between a mid-drive and a hub motor with a torque sensor?
A mid-drive sits at the centre of the bike and powers the drivetrain directly, so the torque sensor can adjust output in real time against the gear you are in. the ride feels smooth and close to a conventional bicycle. a hub motor sits in the wheel and tends to deliver power with a slight delay and a more assertive, less proportional feel.
What is the galaxy perform s edrive system?
It is heybike's own drive system, and the perform s version is the one fitted to the alpha. it is rated to deliver roughly 8 percent more range than other systems using a battery of the same capacity, and it pairs with the mivice motor to produce the alpha's 105 n·m of torque.
Does the alpha come with fenders and a rear rack?
Yes. two fenders and a rear rack are fitted as standard.
What is the difference between the step-over and step-through frames?
Both use the same 6061 aluminium construction and the same motor, battery and components. the step-over keeps a conventional top tube, while the step-through drops it so riders can mount and dismount without swinging a leg over the saddle.
