Heybike Venus Lightweight Commuter Ebike

The Heybike Venus is the lightest bike in Heybike's commuter range, and that is the whole point of it. The 6061 aluminum alloy frame and rigid aluminum fork bring the complete bike to 50 lb, or roughly 45 lb once the battery is pulled out, which matters every time it has to go up a flight of stairs, into a car trunk, or onto a bike rack. A low step-through frame with a slightly forward bottom bracket means a rider gets full leg extension while still being able to plant both feet at a stop, and the stem adjusts through 90 degrees to dial in reach and bar height.

A 750W Galaxy eDrive hub motor producing 70 N·m drives the rear wheel, fed by a 680Wh battery that Heybike tested to 85 miles with a 155 lb rider holding PAS 1 and leaving the throttle alone. Top speed is 28 mph, and the bike switches between Class 2 and Class 3 configurations through the Heybike app, so it can be set up to suit whichever rules apply where it is ridden. A throttle is fitted as standard, and its behavior can be configured alongside the class setting.

Assist quality comes from a dual-sensor setup reading both torque and cadence, which engages in about 0.3 seconds and gives power that tracks rider effort rather than arriving as a delayed surge. Five PAS levels are on offer, and each one's speed ceiling can be set independently in the app. Gearing is a Shimano Altus 8-speed with an 11–32T cassette and a 48T chainring, giving enough range to hold a comfortable cadence on flats and still spin up a climb.

The componentry around the drivetrain is tuned for city conditions. KENDA 27.5 x 2.2-inch tires roll fast without feeling nervous, hydraulic disc brakes clamping 180 x 1.9mm rotors provide consistent stopping in wet weather, and the lighting package includes a headlight with a horn plus integrated turn signals. Venus carries UL 2849 certification for the complete bike and UL 2271 for the battery, with an IPX6-rated color LCD display. Total rider and cargo capacity is 350 lb, the optional rear rack is rated to 66 lb, and the frame suits riders from 4'11" to 6'2" with an inseam between 24.4 and 34.7 inches.
