This is Himiway's replacement drive motor, sold as a service part and ordered by bike model rather than as one universal unit. Variants cover the D5 and D5 ST (Zebra and Zebra ST), D5 2.0 and D5 2.0 20-inch, D5 Pro and D5 Pro ST, D3 and D3 ST (Cruiser and Cruiser ST), D7 and D7 Pro (Cobra and Cobra Pro), A7 Large, A7 Regular and A7 Pro, C5 Sport and C5 Ultra, Big Dog, Escape, Rambler and the Rhino mid-drive. Pick the variant that names your bike, because a motor built for one platform will not drop into another.

On the mid-drive versions, mounting the motor at the crank rather than in a wheel keeps mass low and centred, so the bike holds its front-to-rear balance and its suspension still works the way it was tuned to. The torque-sensing mid-drive reads how hard you are pushing the pedals and answers in kind, which is what you want on a steep climb or when pulling away from a standstill with a loaded bike. Peak output on that unit is rated at 1300W. Among the hub-drive variants, the D7 version is listed at 1000W and the Cobra version at 750W.

Several variants are split by a build detail rather than by model name, so identify yours before ordering. Big Dog and Escape motors come in spur-gear and slanted-gear versions, told apart by removing the side cover and looking at the gear. D3 and Cruiser motors are split by whether the production date on the bike contains a hyphen. A7 Large and A7 Regular are identified from the fitting diagrams. The D7 Pro and Cobra Pro variant is supplied together with its controller and torque sensor.

Identifying Your Variant

  • Big Dog and Escape: remove the side cover and check whether the gear movement is spur or slanted
  • D3, D3 ST, Cruiser and Cruiser ST: check whether the production date contains a hyphen
  • A7 Large and A7 Regular: match your bike against the fitting diagrams
  • D7 Pro and Cobra Pro: this variant is supplied with the controller and torque sensor together
  • Rhino: listed separately as a mid-drive unit

Compatibility

  • D5 family: D5, D5 ST, Zebra, Zebra ST, D5 Pro, D5 Pro ST, D5 2.0, D5 2.0 ST, D5 2.0 20"
  • D3 family: D3, D3 ST, Cruiser, Cruiser ST - split by whether the production date contains a hyphen
  • D7 family: D7, D7 Pro, Cobra, Cobra Pro - the D7 Pro and Cobra Pro variant includes controller and torque sensor
  • A series: A7 Large, A7 Regular, A7 Pro - A7 sizes identified from the fitting diagrams
  • C series: C5 Sport, C5 Ultra
  • Other models: Big Dog, Escape, Rambler, Rhino mid-drive
  • Fitment rule: Order by the variant that names your model. Motors are not interchangeable between platforms.

Power Ratings

  • Mid-drive peak output: 1300 W
  • D7 hub variant: 1000 W
  • Cobra hub variant: 750 W
  • Drive type: Mid-drive and hub-drive versions, depending on model
  • Sensing: Torque sensing on the mid-drive unit

  • Direct replacement motors matched to each Himiway platform rather than one generic unit
  • Mid-drive version rated at 1300W peak for steep climbs and loaded starts
  • Torque sensing on the mid-drive reads pedal effort and scales assistance to match
  • Crank-mounted placement keeps weight low and central, preserving the bike's balance and suspension feel
  • Hub variants listed at 1000W for the D7 and 750W for the Cobra
  • D7 Pro and Cobra Pro variant arrives with its matching controller and torque sensor
  • Variants split by gear type, production date and frame diagram so the exact unit can be identified

This part is covered against defects in materials and workmanship on arrival. Himiway does not publish a separate warranty term for replacement parts bought on their own, so contact Adventure Motion support with your order number and photos if something arrives faulty or fails early, and we will confirm coverage and handle the claim.

Wear items such as tires, inner tubes, brake pads and brake rotors are consumables and are not covered beyond transit damage. Damage from crashes, incorrect fitting, modification or use outside the part's rated limits is also excluded.

How do i know which motor variant i need?
Choose the variant that names your model. some models need a further check: big dog and escape are split by spur or slanted gear movement, which you confirm by removing the side cover; d3 and cruiser are split by whether the production date contains a hyphen; a7 large and a7 regular are identified from the fitting diagrams.
What is the power rating?
The mid-drive unit is rated at 1300w peak. among the hub variants, the d7 version is listed at 1000w and the cobra version at 750w. ratings for other variants are not published on this listing, so order by model rather than by wattage.
What is the difference between the mid-drive and hub versions?
The mid-drive mounts at the crank, keeps weight low and centred, and uses torque sensing to match assistance to pedal effort. hub versions drive through the wheel. which one you need is set by your bike, not by preference.
Does the d7 pro motor come with anything else?
Yes. the d7 pro and cobra pro variant is supplied together with its controller and torque sensor.
Can i fit this myself?
Replacing a drive motor involves the bike's electrical harness and, on mid-drive units, the crank area. unless you are confident with e-bike drivetrains, have a qualified bike mechanic carry out the swap.
Will a motor from another model fit my bike?
No. motors are matched to their platform and are not interchangeable. confirm your model before ordering.
