The Eunorau META275 1.0 is a 27.5-inch commuter e-bike for paved and lightly unpaved riding: city streets, bike paths, park roads and gravel shoulders. The 6061 aluminum frame carries 2.6-inch CHAOYANG tires, wider than a road tire but well short of a fat tire, and the stem is adjustable so bar height and reach can be set to suit the rider. Recommended rider height is 5'6" to 6'1", saddle height adjusts between 33.0 and 39.0 inches off the ground, and total payload capacity is 286 lbs.

A 48V 500W rear hub motor rated at up to 65 N.m of torque does the work, run through a 48V 20A controller, with top speed listed at 20 MPH. What sets the bike apart from most hub-drive commuters is the torque sensor: rather than simply registering that the cranks are turning, it measures how hard you are pressing, so assist builds as you push and backs away as you ease off. A thumb throttle is fitted as well for moving off without pedaling, and a Shimano 9-speed drivetrain with push-button shifting and a 42T chainring covers the gear range.

The battery is a removable 48V 13Ah lithium-ion pack that comes off with a twist of the key for indoor charging, and a 15Ah or 17Ah second battery is available. Eunorau's 35 to 65 mile range figure is based on the 13Ah pack running together with a 17Ah second battery, and a full charge takes 4 to 6 hours on the included US-standard 2.0A smart charger. Braking is hydraulic disc with 180mm rotors and a motor cutoff switch in the levers, and a front suspension fork absorbs most of what broken pavement and rough routes throw at the bike. Lighting and electronics all run off the main battery, so there are no separate cells to keep charged: LED front and rear lights, plus an integrated brake light that activates whenever either lever is pulled. The BC182 LCD display reports battery level, speed and mileage behind waterproof connectors and syncs with an app for trip records, calorie tracking and over-the-air updates. The bike weighs 68.3 lbs.

At 500W nominal the motor sits below the 750W figure U.S. federal law uses to define a low-speed electric bicycle, but the federal definition is not the whole picture. States layer their own classifications, helmet requirements, age limits and rules about where throttle-equipped e-bikes may be ridden on top of it, so how this bike is treated depends on your location.
