The MotoTec Alien 50cc 2-Stroke Kids Dirt Bike is a starter motocross bike for young riders moving up from electric machines. The current generation of 50cc two-stroke mini-bike engines start more easily and run more reliably than earlier versions, and a two-stroke of this displacement makes close to twice the power of an equivalent four-stroke - which is why it remains the preferred layout for a first real dirt bike.

Riding it is deliberately simple. An automatic centrifugal clutch means there are no gears to change: twist the throttle and the bike pulls away. A pull start gets the engine running, and the 1 litre tank runs a 25:1 unleaded fuel and oil mixture for 10 or more miles of riding. Top speed is 25 mph, and the rider weight limit is 130 lbs with a recommended age of 13 and up.

The chassis is built from steel rather than plastic, with telescopic forks up front and a mono shock at the rear, disc brakes at both ends and genuine outdoor rubber tires sized 12.5x10. Seat height sits at 22 inches on a padded single-rider seat, the handlebars adjust for angle, and the whole bike weighs a manageable 48 lbs dry. It copes with wet and dry conditions equally, and its motocross styling gives it the look of a full-size machine at a size a child can actually handle.

Normal wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, chains and batteries are not covered, and neither is damage from racing, jumping, collisions, improper assembly, modification, or riding beyond the rated limits.
