The X1 is the entry point to MotoTec's four-bike X-series ladder, and it is the only model in that ladder with no gearbox at all. Its 110cc air-cooled four-stroke single (factory model K1, 107 ml displacement) makes 5.7 hp at 8,000 rpm and 4.94 ft-lb at 5,500, driving through a single-speed automatic. Electric start off a 12v 4ah battery means a thumb on the button is the whole starting procedure. For a rider stepping off a 50cc or 60cc mini bike, the X1 adds real engine size without adding a clutch lever or a shift pattern.

It is also the most compact X-series bike. Both wheels are 10 inches, the wheelbase is 39.37 inches and the seat sits 23 inches off the ground - low enough for a rider who still wants both feet down at a stop. The cradle-type steel tube frame runs a 550 mm telescopic fork with 100 mm of travel up front and a 270 mm coil-spring shock with 43 mm at the rear, with matched 190 mm single-piston disc brakes at each end. Ground clearance is 8.26 inches and dry weight is 111 lbs.

Top speed is 37 mph with an adjustable speed limiter, and the 2.2-liter tank is rated for around 60 miles per fill. Fueling is a PZ22 Jingke carburetor and a #420 chain with 14T and 39T sprockets runs the drive. Maximum rider weight is 160 lbs and the recommended age is 13 and up. If the goal is a full-size-feeling dirt bike that still rides like a twist-and-go, the X1 is the model in this range that does it.

Normal wear items such as tires, tubes, brake pads, chains and batteries are not covered, and neither is damage from racing, jumping, collisions, improper assembly, modification, or riding beyond the rated limits.

How is the x1 different from the x2, x3 and x4?
It sits at the bottom of the ladder and is the only one with no gearbox - a single-speed automatic. the x2 adds a semi-automatic four-speed, the x3 a manual four-speed with a clutch lever, and the x4 a 150cc manual five-speed. wheel sizes, seat height and top speed climb with each step.
What is the top speed and range?
37 mph with the adjustable speed limiter set fully open, and roughly 60 miles from the 2.2-liter tank.
What age and rider size does it suit?
Recommended age is 13 and up with a maximum rider weight of 160 lbs. the 23-inch seat height is the lowest in the x-series, so a shorter rider can still get feet down.
Does it need oil mixed into the fuel?
No. it is a four-stroke, so it runs on straight unleaded gasoline with engine oil kept separately in the crankcase.
