The North Star in its large commercial sizing is a trumpet-style fountain aerator for big ponds and lakes, the water bodies where a small surface unit simply cannot shift enough volume to make a difference. Two motors are offered, 2 hp and 3 hp, both on 230 V, and both are intended for water over half an acre.

The trumpet form throws a wide, flared pattern measuring roughly 12 feet high and 18 feet across, and underneath that display the unit is pumping hard: 700 gallons per minute with the 2 hp motor and 800 gallons per minute with the 3 hp. Moving that much water continuously keeps the pond circulating rather than stratifying, raises dissolved oxygen, and takes pressure off the algae growth and surface debris that build up in standing water.

Both motors are oil-free stainless-steel submersible units rated for round-the-clock operation. There is no oil to change, no service interval to track, and no control box to mount on the bank. Fresh and salt water are both approved, and 3-phase and 50 Hz versions are available alongside the standard single-phase 60 Hz build. Color-changing LED and Night Glo LED light sets, in two-light or four-light form, can be ordered with the aerator or added at any point afterwards.

Nothing has to be pulled or drained for winter. Shut the power down, leave the aerator in the water, and switch it back on in spring. The circuit must be GFCI protected, and power should be off whenever swimmers are present. Units are built in Holland, Michigan.

How deep does the water need to be?
A minimum of 42 inches at the location where the aerator will sit, for both the 2 hp and 3 hp motors.
What size water body is this intended for?
Ponds and lakes over half an acre. smaller water is better matched to the residential north star sizes.
Does the installation require a control box?
No. the oil-free submersible motor runs without one, so there is nothing to mount on the shore beyond the power supply.
What electrical protection is required?
A gfci is mandatory on the circuit, and power should be disconnected whenever anyone is swimming.
What anchoring do i need to provide?
Two anchor weights or concrete blocks and two nylon ropes, none of which are included. use two 45 lb weights with the 2 hp motor and two 55 lb weights with the 3 hp.
Can it stay in the pond over winter?
Yes. turn off the power, leave the unit in place, and restore power in spring. no winterizing procedure is needed.
