The Renogy 400W 12V Starter Solar Panel Kit bundles two 200W solar panels with a Rover Li 40A MPPT charge controller, giving RV owners and van builders a straightforward, budget-conscious way to start generating off-grid power. Everything needed to get the panels mounted, fused, and wired to the controller is included, so the kit is easy to install without sourcing parts separately.

Two panel styles are available. The rigid 200W N-Type panels are compact and light with up to 25% cell efficiency, sized to sit edge-to-edge on a van roof with no wasted space. The 200W flexible panels are extremely thin and light for curved or weight-sensitive surfaces. Either way, the Rover Li 40A controller tracks the panels' maximum power point with 99% MPPT efficiency, and its sealed casing guards against rust, corrosion, and contamination.

A BT-2 Bluetooth module comes in the box, so you can watch charging data and manage the controller through the Renogy app. Batteries and an inverter are not included in this configuration.

Kit Includes

What else do i need to complete an off-grid system?
A solar panel must be connected to a charge controller, which regulates current, and to a battery that stores the energy. adapter cables link the panels to the controller, and tray cables connect the controller to a deep-cycle battery. this kit covers the panels, controller, and cabling; you will still need a deep-cycle battery.
What does off-grid and on-grid mean?
An on-grid system is connected to the utility grid, while an off-grid system is independent and stores the power it generates in batteries for later use, so it is not affected by grid blackouts.
Why might my solar panels produce less power than rated?
Output depends on conditions. indirect sunlight, high temperatures, cloud cover, and dirt or dust on the panel surface can all reduce the power a panel produces.
Should i wire the panels in series or parallel?
Wiring panels in series adds their voltages together while current stays the same as a single panel. wiring in parallel adds their currents together while voltage stays the same as a single panel. both methods can be combined to reach the right system rating.
How much solar can the rover li 40a controller handle?
It accepts up to 520w of solar input on a 12v system or 1040w on a 24v system, with a maximum pv input voltage of 100vdc.
Do i need an inverter?
Yes, if you want to run standard household appliances such as a coffee maker or tv. an inverter converts the 12v dc system output into 120v ac.
